چکیده

Collared peccaries (Pecari tajacu) roam the forests of natural areas in America. Wild collared peccary appears to be a carrier for bacteria associated with infections humans and animals, however, presence diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC) pathotypes has not been studied captive peccary. This study aimed prevalence DEC, susceptibility antibiotics, frequency β-lactamase genes (ESBL) faeces. DEC strains were identified 44.4% (N=56) coli-carrying under study. The following identified: ETEC (35.7%), EAEC (28.6%), STEC (21.4%) EPEC (14.3%). Most belonged clade I (58.9%). genetic marker rfbO157 was found any strain. Of strains, 67.9% (N=38) considered multidrug resistant susceptible ampicillin (75%) nor carbenicillin (51.8%). combination blaTEM + blaCTX blaSHV (6 respectively) most frequent among strains. It is concluded that are carriers carry blaTEM, ampicillin. Given current efforts Wildlife Management Units (WMU) reintroduce into areas, these act as therefore potential source gastrointestinal disease animals.

Molecular characterization of uropathogenic and diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes.

In this study diarrheagenic and uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains were comparatively characterized according to serotype, hemolytic activity, protein polymorphism among housekeeping enzymes, phylogenetic group and urovirulence genes. Intra-serogroup/serotype variations were observed. Hemolytic activity was detected in 100%, 93%, 67% and 39% of UPEC, EAEC, EPEC and ETEC strains, resp...

Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes frequency in Khuzestan province of Iran

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) is an emerging agent among pathogens that causes diarrhea. Studies showed that diarrheagenic E. coli such as enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC), enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC), enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC), diffusely adhering E. coli (DAEC) and shiga toxin producing ...

Genetic relationship of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes among the enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O serogroup.

The genetic relationship among the Escherichia coli pathotypes was investigated. We used random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) data for constructing a dendrogram of 73 strains of diarrheagenic E. coli. A phylogenetic tree encompassing 15 serotypes from different pathotypes was constructed using multilocus sequence typing data. Phylogram clusters were used for validating RAPD data on the clona...

Genome Sequences of 228 Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli Isolates and 12 Isolates Representing Other Diarrheagenic E. coli Pathotypes

Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) are a common cause for food-borne diarrheal illness outbreaks and sporadic cases. Here, we report the availability of the draft genome sequences of 228 STEC strains representing 32 serotypes with known pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) types and epidemiological relationships, as well as 12 strains representing other diarrheagenic E. coli patho...

Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli

Most Escherichia coli strains live harmlessly in the intestines and rarely cause disease in healthy individuals. Nonetheless, a number of pathogenic strains can cause diarrhea or extraintestinal diseases both in healthy and immunocompromised individuals. Diarrheal illnesses are a severe public health problem and a major cause of morbidity and mortality in infants and young children, especially ...
